but our mind wanders to the mysterious rustling of the breeze in a forest in general—one of the most enjoyable things we know—and we wonder if Schiestl was also linking Jesus and Mary to us through the rustling breezes

That institution also purchased this painting in 1906 after it had displayed it in their exhibition that year. He mostly painted women, from the Victorians onward. (His painting A New Day looks like it could have been of the daughter in one of the Downton Abbey movies.)
